Ovcha Kupel

Ovcha Kupel is a well-established residential neighborhood in western Sofia with a long history. Built mainly between 1960 and 1990, it's home to a large number of residents and stands as a characteristic example of mass socialist-era construction that has undergone significant transformation in recent decades. Its name comes from a historic livestock watering site once located in the area.

Ovcha Kupel has a mixed character — older panel blocks stand alongside a number of renovated buildings and an increasing number of new residential projects. The neighborhood has well-developed social infrastructure, with many schools, kindergartens, medical facilities, sports facilities, and parks. Green spaces are a valued resource for residents.

Ovcha Kupel's transport links have improved significantly with the extension of metro line M3, whose Ovcha Kupel station connects the neighborhood to the center and the western parts of the city. The main boulevards provide good access by car to the Ring Road and other parts of the capital.
